So many opportunity's there and research it seems is left mostly to private endeavors.I think it might be better to let the private sector get to space (which it will) and focus govt (and private) research on our oceans. So many potential food sources, cures for diseases and of course learning about our organic heritage. Just my opinion. I love space travel don't get me wrong.

Search for google earth in google. Download and install it. Run google earth. Click View in the toolbar > Explore > mars. Then in the bottom left (layers) :open rovers and landers (and tick the box) , Tick a mission (MER opportunity rover) and double click panoramas to bring the camera to a panorama photo. Double click one of the camera things. You will jump into 1st person view from the rover ^^
